Apiary Hive Report – 1st September 2024

Hive Reports

Apiary Inspection:

As the club performed its honey extractions on Saturday, no inspections were conducted on Sunday. For the 7th September inspections, the wet supers need to be removed, and Varroa treatment applied.

Hygiene Measures:

The club will provide all inspection tools. To minimise disease transmission, please don’t bring personal equipment. Nitrile gloves will be available to use over your existing gloves or on their own.

EFB Lockdown:

EFB has been confirmed in two colonies at the club. Therefore, we will be enforcing strict hygiene practices. Please familiarise yourself with these practices and make them a habit. To further reduce the risk of transmission, we will implement a Two-week lockdown on colonies entering and leaving the club apiary.

Personal Inspections:

We strongly recommend washing your bee suits and footwear thoroughly if you plan to inspect your hives before or after the club inspection. If this is a problem, you may want to choose to help opt out of the club inspections during the lockdown period.
